I am adjusting to the food very well. Hooray!!!
What do they eat? Rice, rice, and more rice- with curry of course.
Every meal (except for breakfast sometimes) comes with a lot of white rice and a little bit of curry (egg curry, fish curry, cabbage curry, chicken curry, you name it, it's there). They were blown away when I told them I didn't eat rice everyday in the US...not even once a week at times. You should have seen the look on their faces!
The food tastes really good! One of my favorite parts though is eating with my hands and not using any silverware. You take a little bit of the curry and mix it in some of the rice and then stick it in your mouth (without making a mess).
It's SO fun! Anyway, don't roll your eyes at me. :)
My favorite is chicken curry...I will try to put the recipe on my blog so that you can try it, but they don't measure things like they do in the US, so we will see if I can get it to you.
Talk to you again later!

Isn't curry Hot? I don't know how you could not make a mess eating that way though. I'm so glad you're having fun. How's the weather? Is it warm? Just keep haveing fun and following God. It really sounds like God is at work with you there. Praise God.
Our family went to a wedding on Saturday, and the family raises lamb and has a wonderful lamb marinade recipe that we've enjoyed for years. They had tri-tip, salmon, and the lamb, and did I ever eat too much! So don't be afraid to try the lamb, because I've had it at Indian restaurants and it's really good.
It's drizzling here this morning, which is a nice break from the hot weather we've been having. Don and I went for a drive in the mountains above South Myrtle last night, looking for black-cap raspberries as we drove along. We found some here and there (they only grow in higher elevations) and then hit the mother lode and came back with about 3 cups full, so I'll have to make some crepes or something tonight and use the black-caps as syrup or...something yummy.
While we were driving around we saw 5 coveys of quail, one grouse, a lone doe, and a COUGAR! It ran across the road in front of us. We drove up higher and looked down, and there was a pond below where he had obviously been getting his evening drink. S/he was quite dark and very large - probably about 130 pound. I couldn't get a picture, but it was sure neat.
I took some beautiful photos from the higher elevations. The sunset was especially nice. So when I get my blog up and running, I'll post some of them.
I'm praying for you, Heather, that God will use your words, your actions, and your humble, sweet spirit to make an impression on those with whom you come in contact. I sure do miss you!
It is sure nice to read your blog, I'll say it again I'M PROUD OF YOU! I lov e you and praying for you. Take care.

Sounds like you're getting your share of carbs! It's great that you're enjoying it and really adapting to their way of life.
I must admit that I'm not a huge fan of curry, but maybe if I got to eat it with my fingers LOL
Hey Heather, thanks for the update on some of the "food" customs. I'm like Trish, I'm not a big curry fan but with all those different flavors of curry maybe I'd change my mind.
I'm still in awe of what you're doing and your willingness to do it. You are an exceptional young woman and I know that because of you, He will do a mighty work (not just in you but those around you).
I look forward to the next post. Take care, little girl(y).
